This crisis has much deeper roots, than the stock markets or any other financial or even political institutions.
It is the result of our basic human nature, which cannot function any more the “old way” within the new global, integral world.
The old attitude of “getting as much as possible for ourselves, even if I have to use and exploit everyone and everything” is harming, and destroying this totally interconnected and interdependent system.
So to answer your question the development of the global world, and our selfish behavior were the indicators not many of us noticed.
